Outside Control
Audio-Technica have taken great steps to minimize external interference from disturbing your vinyl listening. One of the most significant is the external control box of the AT-LPA2. The motor controls and power supply are within the box, mitigating any electrical interference. The buttons are clearly labeled and easily operated. Simply press the power button, your desired speed button, and the start/stop button. An optical sensor positioned under the spindle monitors rotation to ensure it is a consistent 33 1/3 or 45 rpms.
Accurate Tracking
The AT-LPA2 is equipped with an AT-OC9XEN moving coil cartridge, which has a lower mass when compared to other MM-based cartridges. This lets the stylus react quickly within the record's groove to accommodate changes in dynamic music passages for high-fidelity playback. Also, a string-type anti-skate mechanism is employed to prevent side-to-side skipping.
Additional Details
  • Elliptical nude stylus (0.3 x 0.7 mil) with high-purity PCOCC coils
  • Add different optional cartridges with included 110 and 130 g counterweights
  • Heavy-duty, height-adjustable feet for further vibration isolation
  • Removable hinged dust cover included
  • Stereo RCA phono output with ground screw (please note that there is no amplification and the AT-OC9XEN MC cartridge outputs at only 0.35mV. A dedicated MC-compatible preamp or MM preamp coupled with a step-up transformer (SUT) is required for playback)
